Frequently Asked QUestions

What can I expect at St. James?

We hope you’ll feel warmly welcomed!  The St. James family is multi-generational, with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds.  Most of our members live in the communities of Garden City, Stewart Manor, New Hyde Park, Franklin Square, Floral Park, and Elmont.

When are worship services?

Our Sunday worship is at 9:00 am and lasts about 60 minutes.  Following worship, all are invited to engage in an hour of fellowship in our Fellowship Hall, where we enjoy each other’s company (and also some delicious food and coffee).

What is there for my children?

Children are of course invited to worship.  In addition, there are Sunday School classes for children of almost every age, from nursery through grade school.  All children are also invited to participate in our weekly Children’s Sermon, which is held during worship.  On any given Sunday, the sound of children is a fixture at St. James.

What else does St. James have to offer?

St. James offers a variety of programs for people of all ages (whether members or not).  For example, St. James operates Preschool and Toddler programs during the school year.  Also for children, St. James offers both a Summer Camp and a Vacation Bible School.  For teens and adults, there are weekly bible study and catechism classes.  Click here for more information about these programs.  Our very active Fellowship Committee also plans a variety of events throughout the year, such as Pot Luck dinners, Shrove Tuesday dinners, game and movie nights, and bowling and skiing outings.
